Dogs make such loyal and loving companions. They have amazing intuition and constantly step in to help when their owners are in need, even if it puts them in danger.

Like the brave dog who repelled a mountain lion and save her owner's life.

Erin Wilson of Trinity County, California is the ecstatic owner of Eva, a 2-and-a-half-year-old Belgian Malinois. They had just finished a pleasant walk by the river when the peaceful day suddenly became dangerous.

The Sacramento Bee reported that a mountain lion charged at Erin while howling and tearing through her jacket. Erin called Eva for assistance because no one else was close, and the devoted dog ran to her relief.

Erin reports Eva bravely approached the mountain lion, "hitting that creature quite hard," and drawing the big cat's attention away from Erin. The mountain lion, on the other hand, outweighed the dog and "latched on to her head," inflicting severe pain.

Erin quickly returned the favor, battling the enormous cat with wood and rocks and enlisting the assistance of a passing motorist who used pepper spray to neutralize the wild beast.

Eva was taken to the hospital, and despite all odds, the heroic dog lived. To assist with Eva's medical costs, Erin set up a GoFundMe page. According to Erin, her hero is recovering, with the vets being "optimistic."

"She's still not out of the woods; she's heavily sedated until we're confident the pressure in her head has reduced," she wrote. "She has two skull fractures, a punctured sinus cavity, and significant edema around her left eye, impairing her vision."

Despite suffering severe injuries in the process, Eva managed to save the life of her owner.

According to Capt. Patrick Foy of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, it is reasonable to conclude that the dog saved the woman's life.

Erin said on GoFundMe, "My puppy is my hero, and I owe her my life.

You are a heroine, Eva! We appreciate your bravery in fending off the mountain lion and preserving your owner's life. It serves as a reminder of how faithful and guarding dogs can be.
