The man who sold his home to pay the $24,000 veterinary bill for his pet showed his devotion and boundless love for his dear companion

Anyone who has ever experienced a veterinary emergency with their cherished, four-legged best friend is aware of how expensive and emotionally draining the procedure is.

So when one canine dad's veterinary expenses were about to hit $24,000, he said that he was prepared to take unconventional steps to preserve the life of his daughter.

Rambo, a two-year-old Weimaraner, has a father named Jaxon. Rambo went into hypovolemic shock for reasons that are yet unknown, which meant that her heart was unable to pump blood to the rest of her body. She also had gastroenteritis, sometimes known as the stomach flu.

According to Rambo's father, "She started throwing up throughout the night more than 30 times, and by Saturday morning we were in the emergency vet."

Her health quickly deteriorated as a result, as you may have imagined, and it wasn't clear how long she would need to get medical care. In addition to experiencing hypovolemic shock and digestive problems, she also developed pneumonia as a result of fluids spilling into her lungs. Even one of her lungs gave out.

She ultimately survived because she was at the emergency vet under constant observation, but being there cost more than £1000 ($1200 USD) per day. Rambo's insurance would have paid for her up to £6500 ($7,800), but after just one week in their care, her expenses had already reached $11,500 ($13,800).

Jaxon decided to try raising money for Rambo's essential care by starting a gofundme page. He even said he was prepared to "sell his house."

"If the worst happens and Rambo requires significant surgery, the cost of this as well as the aftercare is something I need to be able to provide for my beautiful baby girl," Jaxon continued.

Her father became so terrified that he began to sleep in his car, which he had parked close to the veterinarian, in order to stay close to his precious infant daughter. But in addition to the more than 600 donors who helped contribute more than £10,000 ($12,000) in donations, Rambo responded to less invasive treatments, allowing them to forgo surgery entirely.

"My little angel is by no means fully recovered; she still needs a lot of medication and 24/7 monitoring at this point. It will be a long road to recovery for her. However, we followed through on our commitment to return home, said Jaxon.

Rambo began to recover miraculously thanks to all the love, encouragement, and excellent care. She was ultimately discharged from the hospital and taken home with her loving father after spending two grueling weeks there.
